Symbolism of Astrology

There are 3 basic symbols which are used in
the planet symbols.
They signify the 3 basic parts of "Man"; spirit,
soul and body.

The Circle -           Spirit; the spiritual energy/essence from which all
                                creation is formed and sustained. Eternal and
                                uncorruptible.

The Semi-Circle - The Soul and/or Mind of the Soul. It is the
             intermediate state between pure Spirit and the
              Material /Physical. The Mind, especially, is the
              Link between all states of existence.

The Cross -               The Material/Physical world. Here "Man" is
                                  subject to limitations and carnal desires.
            The union of "Male" and "Female" to produce Life.

The Sun -                    The circle is Spirit, the dot in the middle is that
                                   which is created, the individualized speck of spirit
                                   that is YOU. The ego to some. It represents your
                                   unique individuality, your spiritual essence.

The Moon                  The Soul or Mind. The intermediary part of
                                   creation that receives Spirit and gives it Form. It is
                                   the receptive principal and represents your
                                   emotions, sub-conscious and instinctive reactions

Mercury                        "Messenger of the Gods" the top is the semi-circle
                 definitely signifying the Mind (of the Soul). It sits
                 on top of the Circle, Spirit and the Circle is on top
                 of the Cross. Spirit is elevated over Matter, the
                 meaning is the Mind communicates from the Spirit
                 to Matter

Venus                             The "Lesser Benefic" It embodies the attraction
                principle or Love. Spirit is elevated over Matter.
                Gives increase in affection and wealth.

Mars                                The great surge of primal energy bringing the
                                    Spiritual into Matter. Matter is elevated over Spirit.
                                    All effort is to bring Life bursting forth into Matter.
                The aggressive force in all Creation. The "Lesser
                Malefic".

Jupiter                           The "Greater Benefic" The Semi-Circle is elevated
               over the Cross. The Soul has won over Matter and
                gained Wisdom in the process. The Mind is freed
               and begins to understand the nature of the
                Universe. A very expansive force, it brings great
                increase mentally and materially.

Saturn                           The Principle of Structure, Form and Limitation.
               The Cross is elevated over the Semi - Circle.
               "Man" must live under and be subject to the Laws
                of Matter. Here "Man" learns from the great Karmic
                Teacher to abide by the Laws of God and Man.
                "The Greater Malefic".

Neptune                         The Semi - Circle pierced by the Cross of Matter.
               The Soul has won placement above Matter but
               needs to purify the 3 parts of the Material body,
               mind and emotions. The higher octave of Venus.
               It rules impersonal Love while Venus rules personal
               love. Neptune gives for the sake of giving, Venus
               expects giving will be shared and reciprocal.

Pluto                              The Circle (Spirit) is above the Semi - Circle (Soul)
                                   which is linked to but above the Cross (Matter).
                Signifies the whole of Creation and the Evolutionary
                process. Spirit creates and informs Matter, Matter
                purifies itself and returns to Spirit. It is the process
                of Regeneration. Death occurs that new Life can
                take it's place. Nothing is ever lost, it is returned
                in a better form. The higher octave of Mars in that
                Mars destroys the old for new Life to take it's place
                but Pluto destroys more than form, it purifies and
                regenerates.

Uranus                         One Semi - Circle representing the Soul/Mind of
               "Man" the other Semi - Circle representing the
               Divine Soul/Mind. These are joined together by
               the Cross. It signifies the joining of the personal
               Mind with the Divine Mind or intuition. It sits above
               Matter and transcends it. The small Circle is the
               Life giving Spirit that pervades all Life. The higher
               octave of Mercury that is; personal to impersonal .
